I forgot to bring a lawn chair to Artpark on this night (it's general admission at Artpark and you have to bring your own chair), so rather than have to stand all night (something my creaky old knees wouldn't have appreciated) or sit and be blocked by the crowd I chose to sit on the side hill where the view was awful, but there was a Jumbotron screen and a mono mix PA speaker. I parked myself 25 feet in front of the speaker and taped from there. This was a good decision because Aretha's vocals sound like she was standing right in front of me.
For those of you out there elsewhere in the world who have never had the pleasure of seeing Artpark, it is one of the most naturally beautiful places you will ever see a concert. Sort of like Red Rocks, but in a different way. Artpark is a 3/4 bowl on the side of a hill with a stage built at the bottom of it. Behind the stage is the most spectacular view of the Niagara Gorge with the Niagara River at the bottom. You get a panoramic view of nature's beauty the whole while you're watching the concert. Most groups that play there comment on how amazing the place/view is. I recommend seeing a show there if you ever get around these parts.
