This is very likely the definitive version of the now classic Houston show. Hands down, this is the best unreleased Queen concert recording (second perhaps only to the fabulous Boston '76 recording taped by Dan Lampinski). Improvements have been made (by DJGreg) that leave the old version in the dust:
- added reverb
- added a bit of compression
- slight hiss reduction
- EQ
The result is a recording that sounds about as good as an official release. And on this version there's an extra bit of banter before White Man that wasn't on most previous copies. Brian May breaks a string a minute into Liar, and as soon as he gets his spare guitar the band proceed to slay. There's a great early version of Love Of My Life with no audience participation, and just Mercury at his best. My Melancholy Blues is without a doubt the definitive live version. Essential listening, even if you're not a big Queen fan. This show has everything that made Queen one of the top rock bands before the 80s took them into synth pop.
