"Farewell" Tour - 1st of 2 nights there
This is a very good audience recording of one of the last performances with Mike Pinder. His mellotron is very prominent throughout the show. The performance is excellent, with tracks from each of the "classic seven" albums.
I don't know the exact date and venue, but based on the band's comments, they are in Japan. They played several dates in Japan in January 1974.
Moody Blues played 2 days at Tokyo. This is the first day's peformance. They also played at Osaka, and Nagoya in Japan. Their Nagoya's performance also remains boot tapes, but that is imcomplete.
I applied DC offset and removed a few gaps and bumps in the ending applause and applied individual clap volume reduction (of 3-5 DB's) to many very loud claps between some songs to make them no longer overwhelming. I also balanced the levels in some tracks that needed it. some didn't need any adjusting at all.
No EQ, noise reduction, or speed adjusting was done in this remastering. A few tracks were re-tracked, including the removal of the disc break overlap and the addition of a seperate track for the encore applause. The original disc break can still be used, so can a few other options. This is now a "seamless" recording, suitable for disc or dat. It's a pretty enjoyable audience recording for its time, and now it sounds a little more enjoyable. I would give this a "VG" audience sound rating for a 1974 Moody audie.
