Live Broadcast on BBC Radio 1
In 1990 as part of her 'Blond Ambition' world tour, Madonna performed 3 shows at Wembley Stadium in London. The second of these shows was broadcast live on BBC Radio 1 - with no time delay. Madonna had specifically been asked by the BBC NOT to use any obscene or inappropriate language. Madonna duly agreed and the live broadcast went ahead. This was the result. She used no less than 21 obscenities in less than 3 minutes, including variations of "Fuck" 19 times. Madonna was banned from performing live on the BBC ever again. The BBC had to issue an apology. This ban was later lifted when, years later she appeared live - but lip-syncing her performances for The National Lottery and the charity telethon Children In Need in 2005.
